What does the Numeracy course cover?
ABAAS delivers the numeracy courses via the learndirect platform which promotes on-line learning materials and paper base assignments.
The final tests are on-line for levels 1 & 2 and are conducted over a 60 minute session with 40 questions to answer.
Before candidates start their learner journey to qualifications we will first put them on a diagnostic which will establish if they have gaps in their learning.
Your diagnostic read out will show at what level you are for each element of numeracy and in most cases will normally indicate a spiky profile. The amount of elements needed to be covered is subject to your diagnostic report and thereupon determines how quickly you will achieve your goal coupled with commitment and access to your course.
There are five elements that are covered in this sequence of units
- Shape and Space
- Whole numbers
- Common Measures
- Handling Data
- Fractions, Decimals & Percentages
There are five levels that you are measured against in your diagnostic
- Entry level 1
- Entry level 2
- Entry level 3
- Level 1
- Level 2
You will be assigned a tutor who will support your learning through to examination which is conducted at our training centre. You will be given a username and password so you can access your learning materials at any time of the day just as long as you have access to a computer and the internet.
Every time you complete an element at a level you will be given some assignments to take home and complete, whereupon your tutor will mark them and give appropriate feedback and guidance.
What qualifications will I receive?
Our literacy and numeracy courses are accredited with City & Guilds and in most cases candidates receive their level 1 & 2 certificates within 2 weeks of successfully completing their test.
ABAAS tutors encourage candidates to access their learning a minimum of twice a week for two hours and attend the training centre periodically for review and IAG on the units.
When you enrol on to one of these courses our tutors will agree with you a proposed times scale for completion based on the hours you inform us that you will dedicate to the course per week, so as you can see, these courses are totally flexible and can easilly fit around any demanding work schedule or family commitments.
Don't forget, you maybe eligible for free training.
